1st Protaras International Swimming Marathon

Konstantias Swimming Club, with the support of the Paralimni Municipality and in collaboration with the Cyprus Swimming Federation (CSF), is organising the open-water swimming competition ‘1st Protaras International Swimming Marathon’.

Participation Rights
All clubs affiliated with the CSF, as well as swimmers from international clubs, are eligible to participate and for the masters race, residents of Cyprus or international athletes aged 25 and above. Swimmers who are active members of the CSF for the period of 2023-2024 are eligible
for free participation (sponsored by the Paralimni Municipality). For the MASTERS category and for international swimmers, participation is set at €25.

Location
The competition will take place on May 19, 2024, in the marine area of Protaras (area Vrysi A).
The assembly point is the decking area in front of the Silver Sands Hotel. (See attached diagram)
The start and finish will take place in front of the assembly area.

Races
The following race distances will be held:
– 5km race (for those born in 2008 and older)
– 2.5km race (for those born from 2009 to 2011)
– 2.5km Master’s race
The races will be conducted according to the regulations of the World Aquatics and the current announcement.

For Cyprus Clubs
Each participating club has the right to register as many swimmers as it wishes. A prerequisite for participation is that swimmers must be registered in the Federation’s athlete registry and possess a Health Certificate (ASYA). The races will contribute to the CSF’s annual awards plan for open-water swimmers and serve as criteria for selecting swimmers for international openwater competitions.

Prizes
First-place swimmers in the Men’s and Women’s open category of the 5km races will receive trophies, while the top three swimmers will receive medals. Trophies for the top winners and medals for the top three will also be awarded in individual age categories.
– Youth Men / Youth Women (18-19 years old, born in 2006-2005 – 5km)
– Juniors (16-17 years old, born in 2008-2007 – 5km)
– Boys/Girls (13-14-15 years old, born in 2011–2010-2009 for 2,500m)
All participants will receive a participation gift and an honorary certificate.

Masters Race
In the Masters race, covering a distance of 2,500 meters, swimmers will be evaluated in four age
categories:
– Men/Women up to 35 years old
– Men/Women 35-45 years old
– Men/Women 45-55 years old
– Men/Women 55 and older
Participants must complete and sign the waiver form included.
Prizes will be awarded, with trophies for the first winners and medals for the top three in each age category.

Registration
Registrations must be submitted by Wednesday, 8/5/2024, at 10:00 am to the Federation’s email koek@logos.cy.net . The Technical meeting will be held online on Friday, 17/05/2024, at 6:00 pm.

– 08:30 – Athlete accreditation for 2,500m
– 09:30 – End of athlete accreditation for 2,500m
– 10:00 – Athlete briefing for 2,500m
– 10:10 – Athlete presentation for 2,500m
– 10:20 – Start for 2,500m boys-girls and masters
– 12:30 – Awards ceremony
