45th Pancyprian Kolokasi Festival in Sotira

The 45th Kolokasi Festival in Sotira, will take place on Friday, 6th of September 2024 at the Municipal Football Stadium of Sotira. Doors open at 20:00.

Kolokasi, is a root vegetable also known as Colocasia Esculenta or Taro Root and Sotira currently produces more than 85% of Cyprus’ kolokasi. Since 2016 “Kolokasi Sotiras” has been registered as “Protected Designation of Origin” and “Protected Geographical Indication”.

Kolokasi features prominently in the local cultural life as illustrated at the annual traditional Kolokasi Festival. One of the festival’s highlights is interaction with growers who share all their knowledge and stories related to Kolokasi. Distinguished chefs will not only demonstrate traditional recipes, such as kolokasi kappamas (a very well-known dish in Kokkinohoria region cooked with red wine), kolokasi yachni (stewed in tomato sauce), fried poulles (the side corms), but they will also develop innovative, signature recipes with the celebrated vegetable. In addition, food and drinks will be vended to satisfy all kinds of tastes. Activities will be held for children of all ages and visitors will enjoy greek music with Lefteris Pantazis and Konnie Metaxa.

Visitors will have the chance to enjoy traditional Cyprus cuisine and experience local hospitality.

There is an entrance fee of 5 euros for people over 12 years old. Children under 12 years old can enjoy the festival for free.

Το 45ο Παγκύπριο Φεστιβάλ Κολοκασιού Σωτήρας ανοίγει τις πόρτες του την Παρασκευή, 6 Σεπτεμβρίου 2024 για να υποδεχθεί όλους εσάς σε μια βραδιά γεμάτη μουσική, χορό, διασκέδαση, παραδοσιακές και εναλλακτικές συνταγές με βάση το κολοκάσι αλλά και πολλές δραστηριότητες για όλους. Το φεστιβάλ θα πραγματοποιηθεί στο Δημοτικό Γήπεδο Σωτήρας και οι πόρτες ανοίγουν στις 20:00.
