European Open Water Swimming Cup and Special Olympics Open Water Cup 2026 in Protaras

Protaras will once again become the stage for world-class open water swimming as it will proudly host the European Aquatics Open Water Swimming Cup 2026 and the inaugural Special Olympics Open Water Cup 2026 at the iconic Fig Tree Bay.

Taking place on 18–19 April 2026, this international event will welcome elite swimmers, emerging talents, and Special Olympics athletes from across Europe and beyond. The competition marks the opening leg of the 2026 European Aquatics Open Water Swimming Cup series, bringing top-level athletes to compete in the demanding 10 km marathon race in one of the Mediterranean’s most beautiful swimming venues.

Alongside the elite races, the event proudly promotes inclusion through the Special Olympics Open Water Cup, featuring an 800-metre race designed to celebrate participation, ability, and the unifying power of sport.

The weekend will also include additional open water races, creating a vibrant festival of swimming that welcomes athletes of different levels and age groups. With the collaboration of the Cyprus Swimming Federation and the Paralimni–Deryneia Municipality, the event highlights Cyprus’ growing reputation as a premier destination for international aquatic sports.
